new update

Landrie is doing Amazing - she never stopped smiling and Thank God her fever never returned. Thanks for the prayers. Her meds were over as of yesterday and we go tomorrow a.m. for her check up.

Her procedure aka x-ray cath is on the 30th. I am DREADING this day. Mark is not sure if he can get off work because it is month end and it is already a short week due to new years. Just in case your wondering I hate month end with a passion and always have, when a week of each month is blocked out, and nothing important or out of town is allowed to happen it really affects your life.

Anyway, sorry, i digress, We will have to check in at 8:00 a.m. with the procedure not taking place till 10:30. THat is not the worst part. THe worst part is that she has to be put under. The second worst part is she is not allowed to nurse or have ceral past 2:00 a.m. She is allowed to have up to 4 oz. of water from 2-6 a.m. but she has no idea what water is so that isn't really exciting her. We are trying to introduce it but she doesn't want anything to do with it right now. That is going to be a L O N G morning/day. They told me to plan for the whole day off work as they won't let her leave till she is fully woke up and it proving she can eat and hold food down. I don't at this point know how long the procedure will last, I will find all this out tomorrow.

Please pray and ENJOY the HOLIDAYS!!! Merry Christmas to all.

home sweet home

Landrie stayed fever free for 24 hours so the doctor let us leave the hospital with 11 more days of oral antiobiotics at home. Jaren was SOOOO excited to see Landrie. He looked at Mark and I and smiled, but then tried to tear Landrie out of her carseat to love on her. She was VERY excited to see him as well.

We will go for a check up the Thursday before Thanksgiving and then on the 30th we will go to have our dye test done.

We did ask if this was going to be a cronic problem for our baby girl and doc told us, sadly yes. That each and every time Landrie has a fever over 100.4, unless we already know another reason she should have the fever, we will have to take her in to be cathed to check for a UTI so we can gaurd from her kidneys getting damged. This is obviously sad news, but we are thankful still that she is healthy right now.

We would like to request continued prayers that she may stay fever free for the next 11 days, because if she doesn't we will most likely have to go back to the hospital for more IV antibitics and they wouldn't risk it, we'd have to stay for the 11 days we have left of meds.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, we'll let you know how our dye test goes after the holidays.

update

The doctor came in and let us know he is moving Landrie to an oral antibiotic. With this change he is going to keep us here through tomorrow at least. If she can remain fever free on the oral antibiotic then we can go home tomorrow followed by eleven more days of oral antibiotics (three times a day).

As for the sonogram her left kidney has slight inflamation. I asked if a slight inflamation led him to believe it was be a slight leak (a one or a two) meaning small to no chance of surgery and he said they have no correlation and we wouldn't know till we did the dye test in 4 ish weeks. We have to wait this long as her kidney's, and bladder have to be completely healed and healthy before we can run the test.

So fingers crossed no fever today or tonight and we can go home tomorrow.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Here is a pic of Miss Landrie hanging out in her cage (when all four sides are up she looks like she is locked in a cage.

Landrie still loves to be swaddled up - when she gets just a bit fussy we swaddle her and she falls fast asleep.

She is adapting well to her club - having fun on her tummy :)

Mommy and Landrie loving on each other.

One (the only) plus of all of this is she is becoming more of a cuddler without being swaddled. She was just hanging out with daddy earlier and fell asleep on him. Can't blame her though he is a good cuddler

Mark went home to shower today and picked Jaren up from Daycare and brought him up to see Landrie and I. He could have cared less that he hadn't seen me, but he was so excited to see Landrie. He noticed her in her crib and got so excited and tried to climb in there with her.

I asked Jaren if Landrie had an ochie, thinking he would obviously point to her club hand - no he looked right at her forehead looking for a cut like he has, then he decided that that was where her ouchie was anyway, even though he couldn't see anything.

Jaren stayed at my mom and dad's last night then my mom took him to daycare for us today. Maride sent us this pic today from daycare so we would know he was doing ok. We are blessed to have her for our daycare provider she loves our kids.

We wanted to say a special thanks to my mom and dad for watching Jaren last night and to my mom for bringing us dinner tonight. Also to Jim and Phyllis for taking Jaren with them tonight.

What a week (ER trips)

So as Parents Mark and I had been very lucky and had not made one ER run to date. Then Sunday night as Jaren was walking up to the stairs in the garage he tripped and hit his head on the bottom step which was followed by a trip to the ER for stitches. We ended up getting glued together (pictures below)

That night / Monday a.m. Landrie woke up with a fever. I stayed home with her and she was needy, but her fever stayed away. so I went to work on Tuesday. At four on Tuesday she spiked a fever of 102. Tylenol broke the fever and we were good till about 10 o'clock when she started laboring to breath (almost holding her breath) jerking and shaking and her color was off a bit, low grade fever. She did this till she fell asleep about 15 horrible min. So I stayed home with her on Wednesday, again she was good just needy. She had a low grade fever, but nothing bad. We had called the doctor and the doctor said, no more monkey's jumping on the bed...... oh, wait we were talking about Landrie. He said that if she had the fever Wednesday night to bring her in on Thursday so that was the plan. Mark and I got everything ready for him to take the kids to the doctor - Landrie for the fever and Jaren for a possible infection as his wound was oozing a bit - the bag was packed and the note of what to say and ask was ready to go. Landrie had other plans. At 11:30 she got up to eat and was doing fine. At about Midnight she started the labored breathing and shaking again. With a temp of 101. 10 min later we took the temp 102 10 min. later 103 then is jumped straight to 105. We called my dad as he was still awake from getting home from work. I left straight away with Landrie to go to the ER and mark came when my parents got to our house.

When we got to the ER her fever was down to 102.9 with meds in her for 30 min. already. The twitching was gone. The doc. checked her out and said that everything looked good - it was not ears, or lungs, so he wanted to do a cath to rule our a UTI - well, instead of ruling it out we find a (in the nurses words) a BAD UTI. We were told we would be admitted and that we didn't have a choice we had to take the ambulance. I had never riden in an ambulance so we both had a first. Mark followed us.

The doctor this a.m. explained that there are two kinds of UTI's one in the bladder and one in the kidneys. The one with the bladder one dose of IV antibiotics should cure and keep the fever away, but we would do a abdominal sono to look at her kidneys as well. Well, her fever did return and I know from the sono tech that she has a small amount of urine by her left kidney. The doctor won't be in to tell us what that really means till the a.m.

Landrie is in great spirits which is helping a ton, and Jaren is at grandmas so life is great for him.

This is a pic I took on Tuesday night as we were hanging out at home, I just thought it was precious to see Daddy and Landries hands together.

This is Landries hand today. We are affectionatly referring to it as her club. She is dying to chew on her fingers and grab her toys, but all in all it isn't bothering her to much.

This is Daddy and Landrie at the ER - she did well, but didn't like the Cath or the IV being put in, can't blame her.

Mommy and Landrie at the ER - she is showing you all her club :)

This was supposed to be a pic of her in the ambulance, but I put the wrong pic sorry

This is Jaren sunday at the ER before the glue obviously. Funny story here of course. If you know Jaren you know he is a bit OCD with his routines and independance. Well when he fell Mark naturally picked him up to bring him inside and stop the blood from getting everywhere and he was screaming bloody murder. Then we figured it out. He wasn't yelling because it hurt he was yelling because Mark carried him inside so we had to take him gash and all back outside so he could come inside by himself. Then he was perfectly fine. Then we turned right back around and went to the er. He had to get into the car and the carseat all by himself still. He was pretty sure he was in heaven though as he got cookies in the car seat.

Jaren on Wednesday with the ooz and the glue

The kids just wanted to make sure we met our deductible by the end of this year (not a problem) At least they took care of all of this before Christmas and our Jan. trip to Great Wolf Lodge.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers - please keep them coming that the results of the sono are good. What I didn't mention was that if the leak to the kidneys is bad enough (stage 3 or 4 out of 4) she will most likely have to have surgery.
